I saw this done on a older VW bug once for a wider look and it looked really nice.
I was thinking about this quite a bit. It's something I may attempt in the future. The issue I have with it in my mind (making it a little trickier) is that simply slicing or slitting the fender and then welding in some extra metal to get it wider would also extend the fender downward following its slope. I think the angle of the flare needs to be adjusted to allow the fender line to remain the same, but just be pushed outwards.

I liked the old setup, but that looks tough as nails. Also, looks like the new garage is working well for you!
edit: also also, glad you are painting them, excited to see how they look all said and done.

I liked it too, but this has always been my vision for the car. I have known for a long time it would never stay as it was with stock fenders. I'll probably even change this up at some point in the future. I have ideas. And my roommate is very accomplished with fiberglass and sheet metal body fabrication.

This looks great. I think the flares look good as is but I am interested to see them painted. Do you plan to paint the wheels?

The flares came out good and the stance looks great. I am still a little sad to have seen the car chopped up to fit tires that would have fit under stock fenders though!

Thanks man. I'm just not a fan of the black look. Kinda feel like it's not finished that way. Having the contrast between the painted flare and the black hardware and fender welting looks best IMO
edit: regarding painting the wheels, yes I'd like to paint them to match the klutch wheels I've been running (gloss black lips and dark bronze centers, or maybe a gunmetal semigloss) but I kinda just don't want to deal with it right now :p I'll probably wait until I mess them up a bit then paint them

Thanks and don't worry. After these tires are done I plan on getting some wheels with the right offsets to run bigger tires as dedicated track/autox. The rotas will become my daily wheels.

I've been eyeing the joengbloed series 500 for a long time. Seems like a great value between price, weight and style. Thinking either 15x9 or 15x10 in satin black
