So the GOP wants to fund only the things people notice or get pissed about being closed. Dont you think perhaps they are doing that to prevent backlash against their action of shutting the government down? They're just hurting their own party.

I guess what I don't get is, the GOP offered a bill to prevent shutdown that delayed the individual mandate for 1 year.

If the corporations can get that reprieve from the White House, why can't individual's get it as well?

I got my paycheck. But all of the civilians that work on the flightline with us (who don't make anything near six figures) have been sent home without pay until further notice. Some of these guys/gals get by just like everyone else. And not having that income for a week, a month, etc. can really hurt them financially. Just my two cents to those saying they haven't noticed any effects from this. I get it if you aren't involved in the military/government workforce, but you just have to look a little harder to see it.

The White House has literally given out HUNDREDS of exemptions for the mandates on companies, etc.

They refused to negotiate this for weeks leading up to this so that they could use it as a wedge.

The president doesnt choose what gets closed.. that's the parks service.

the Claude Moore Colonial Farm is NPS controlled due to sitting on federal land yet provides NO funding or staff or any other resources but had sent law enforcement to shut it down......... Vindictive, just like with the sequester the parks and other high profile public things took much of the brunt of the cuts.
