Hello Greg, excellent work with the AFM.
    I have a few questions:

    - After refurbishing the AFMs how do you know wich is the correct spring tension on the wheel? I mean the resistance is going to be always the same regardless the resistance of the spring, but how do you fine tune the correct resistance to give the ECU/engine the correct air/fuel mixture?

    - The photos taken show a .7240 value of the tester for a 100% open flap. But the graph shows a 0.9 Up/Uv at 96% flap. How does values correlate?

    I will appretiate your answers.
    Thanks for your time!

Bosch "laser" tunes each AFM during production. So I do not adjust or mess with the spring tension. Doing so would only result in bad news so I never touch the spring. A non working spring would result in me failing the AFM for refurbishment.

Your observation of the values near the maximum genre differ from AFM to AFM. Most, at 100%, are between 0.7 and 0.9 V DC. The most important thing is the voltage output is a linear output with zero "drop outs" or opens in the circuit. The voltage must be linear with respect to flap angle.

Some older AFM's are not linear though and the statement above still holds true. In order to justify a fully working AFM, the output must not drop to zero, have any opens, or any drastic changes in resistance in addition to a fully working air intake temp sensor throughout its range.

Do you make an MAF conversion for our E30's so we can use an E36 Maf that will be plug and play on the M20?
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

I am capable of converting an E36 MAF to interface with the E30's ECM electrically but I do not perform any tuning, which will be required to match the AFM vs MAF signals to the ECM.

Anyone need any "e" AFM's? I've got several that I'm going to refurbish tonight.

                    ITEM SOLD

Up for sale is AFM PN:13621710544
                    E30 325e Sedan
                    E30 325e Coupe

This AFM is a little dirty but all mechanical works great. Also its obviously from a junk yard so I will reduce the asking price to $80 shipped with $10 refundable core charge. Once your core arrives to me, I will refund $10 from your purchase. Canada and international customers will pay additional shipping.

All electrical contacts and wiper arm centered over fresh contact material.

The exterior might be dirty but the electrical output is like new! Here is a capture showing the entire flap range from 0% to 100% open. Notice the smooth curve and no erratic drops.

The "After" capture of throttle blipping. Notice there are NO drops to zero.

Yup, I seal them back up so they are splash proof. PM replied.
