I picked up an ignition tester yesterday from AutoZone. Here it is:
I hooked it up to one of the wire ends at a couple of cylinders. No spark. So I hooked it directly to a wire to the coil. Still no spark.
So the way this tool works is if there's no spark the voltage is too weak and something is wrong. If it does spark at all, you're good.
My question is - does this tool work for our cars? It clearly states on the front of the package 'Works with DIS & HEI electronic ignition systems'. So do we have HEI (High Energy Ignition) systems? I have an M20...
Maybe it won't work either way but how am I to know?
