    Drift day video

Sorry, we couldn’t find that page

A few of us did an E30 only drift day a few weeks back. The video is a submission for a film class of nate (gray E30) in high school. IMO damn good for a high school kid.

Sliding is fun and so are track days. But I've never seen a self proclaimed drifter do such lame donuts, and you guys need to put your shirts back on.

Does look fun despite all the haterade I'm drinking though.

Yea those donuts were lame. And I look damn good shirtless.

It was 97F when I left work, and around 94F when I arrived at the track. None of us have A/C, so there was a reason for the shirtlessness.

I have a 3.25 diff, not a 3.14, in case anyone was wondering. Also, I'm on H&R OE Sport springs.

Awesome! Good to see your car and the maroon e30 in action! How often do you schedule events like this? If it's ok with you I'd like to tag along to one of these one day! I can't wait to find a decent e30 and start drifting it. I know i'll suck big time first time around. I'm still amazed at how much abuse e30's can take.

Interesting, You would think you would want a stiff rear sway in the rear. I guess they don't matter when you're running 700 pound springs.

950# springs in the rear actually. It's not that it doesn't matter, there is a reason for it. The only auto sports you see with huge rear sway bars are ones with very uneven/gravelly surfaces. They run soft spring rates for surface adhesion and the sway bar becomes their main source of anti roll. Smooth surfaces like parking lots and most race tracks are nice enough that you shouldn't need much of a sway bar at all.

and yea, I'll let you know next time we go. Might not be for a while. Should drop by hyperfest this weekend at summit.

Nice video. I know nothing about proper drifting so I'm going to throw this question out there. What's the purpose of drifting between turns on the straight? To keep momentum or is that just something to do?
