    New clutch kit what else?

My throw out bearing is screaming at me I am at 225k miles on the car so I think its about time. I am going to be swapping in a new clutch kit (Sachs) was wondering what else I should get done since the tranny is going to be dropped. So far I have:

    - Clutch Kit
    - Pilot Bearing
    - Rear Main Seal

    - Tranny Mounts?
    - Guibo?

Anything else? I am poor and on a tight budget so no suggestions that would cost me a fortune unless its something I really should do. :p

    Thanks,

    J

Replace the selector seal and the tranny front and rear seals. I'd rebuild your shift linkage while you're in there also.

Definitely transmission mounts, guibo, shifter bushings, transmission seals and add a clutch fork pivot pin to your parts list.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks J, is it worth paying more for the silicone pivot pin over the plastic OEM one on pelican?

Also on the rear main seal there's a new seal that doesn't require a tension spring is it worth it too?

        Thanks,

        J

The plastic pivot pin lasted this long, so a replacement should last just as long. Just get the OE part.

The old stye rear main seal has been superseded.

E30 M3 stuff bolts right up to the M20 flywheel.

If you haven't bought your clutch kit yet I have a new one still in the box that I'd sell for around $200. I think that's fair but if you don't PM me and we'll talk because it's not doing me any good sitting in my storage unit.

Buy some Hylomar sealant for the Input shaft housing cover, and also for use where the rear of the oil pan/block/and rear main seal covers all meet. Also check oil pan gasket back there.
Since it's easier to drop the tranny and do those seals with it flushed of fluid, now is a good time to refill with Redline as well. And if your exhaust manifold studs are FUBAR, now is as good a time as any to replace those.
Also good time to examine your CSB and guibo, since the driveshaft will be out.
                    Ask me how I know.
