    M90B35 Swap

    Hi guys,

Just joined the forums. Been following this page for somewhat weeks now and decided to register. Got myself a M90B35 with a dogleg gearbox(getrag 265?) from a 635csi. The engine is in perfect condition with around 110.000 miles on it. The guy also had a brand new schmiedmann exhaust manifold (price €400) along with the engine. Not bolted up yet.

Will be dropping it into my E30 convertible soon.
Do you guys have experience with the M90 swap? Do the M30 engine mounts designed for E30, also fit on the M90? And what about the driveshaft options?

    Looking forward to your ideas!

Oh and it costed me around €1200 euros.

    Edit: Of course, pictures soon!

    it's just an M90, not a M90B35

you can use B34 motor mount arms

    for the 265 dogleg, you'll need a custom-shortened driveshaft

it's not unreasonable to run B35 electronics in a B34 intake manifold and swap the cam nose and front timing cover to avoid having a mechanical distributor and gain some tunability.

    nice find!

Thought the E30 M3 also used the 265 dogleg, can't I just look for an e30 M3 driveshaft? As far the B35 electronics concerns, the only thing I want to do is make it run in the E30. Perhaps I will think later about tuning and other mechanical stuff.

        Thanks Kronus.;)

            Isn't the m90 just a m30b35 but just had a shorter stroke?

The m90 has a bigger bore and shorter stroke than the m30b35.

Yes, I've heard many good things compared to the M30.
Can't wait till it's up and running. The project will start this weekend.
I call it operation big six. :D Will take some pictures in the process.

                      OP is from Netherlands.

this means this will be done properly and result in awesomness.

                      post some pics!!

Sorry still trying to figure how to post pictures.
                          Here they are, with delay.

Will begin with it soon. First some valve adjustments and re-painting.
                          Stay tuned.
