    bringing back old paint

I have 87 325i convertible schwartz code 089. I acquired it in january and just now getting to looking at paint. The hood and some parts of the trunk has wrinkled paint but otherwise fine after compounding. As far as i can tell, single stage everywhere. How should i go about fixing the wrinkled paint. The car sat outside for 3 years but in garage for several. Very little rust mainly rock chip kind. I plan on fixing those.

I hope i am not looking at a repaint. No funds for that at the moment. I used all my spare funds on mechanical and electrical.

I just went through this myself. Roof was the worst part for me. Ended up using 3m compound with machine polish. It shines pretty good but years of neglect did it's job. All the crap that was sitting on paint got baked in and ruined the finish. Wet sanding with 1000-3000 grit would be the next step then compounding again but the paint is so thin that I am afraid it will blow down to primer so I am leaving mine as is.
