5.3 LSA build

So it begins... I think this will be the first e30 with a LSA blower

Engine is a 5.3 LC9

Blower is from a ZL1

Going with the Sikky Swap Kit

Parts List
5.3 LC9 Gen IV
Gates water pump 4500WT
Holley EFI HP
Holley Digital Dash
160* Thermostat
Metco Interchangeable Upper Pulley Kit 2.5
Weapon X Lower pulley kit 9.5
ZL1 LSA Blower
LSX Concepts Supercharger race drive
Texas Speed & Performance DoD Delete Kit
Texas Speed & Performance VVT Delete Kit
Timing set
LS2 Timing Cover
Texas Speed Stage 3 216/220, .600/.600 112 LSA
PAC 1219 Valve Springs
Texas Speed & Performance 7.40 Chromoly Pushrods
McLeod 6405507 RST Twin Disc Organic clutch kit
Comp Cam Trunion kit
T56
Mahl piston rings
All gaskets

I need to design my fuel setup. Think I'm going with a surge tank setup...

The diff I have now is a 3.15, I'm going to re-gear it to a 3.73.

Sorry for all the links to pics.. Anybody want to tell me how to upload pics??

Stay tuned

Great build, I can't wait to watch this unfold!

When posting your pictures, use the "BB Code" option and then just copy the whole link they have there. Then when you post it, your pictures will appear like this:

Wow, that will be a serious setup. With all of that torque, why go from 3.15 to 3.73? 3.15 seems like a good match for a light car with typical T56 gear ratios. 60mph in 2nd FTW

From what I read 6th gear is useless with anything lower.

I'd run it through a gearing calculator before going to that conclusion. There's nothing wrong with loping along at freeway speeds below 3,000rpm.

Engine RPM 1758
Diff ratio 3.15
Tire Height 24.7"
6th gear 65 MPH

Engine RPM 2079
Diff ratio 3.73
Tire Height 24.7"
6th gear 65 MPH

The 3.15 doesn't look so bad...

Haha 65mph is a little slower than I was thinking. Whichever way you go, I'm looking forward to seeing it. Lots of beautiful parts in those pics.

I am planning on doing an lsa build down the line. I'll be interested to see what you do with the hood. As far as a diff goes 3.73 is the right call. I had a 2.93 and have a 4.10 now. The 2.93 was an absolute dog. 3.73 would be perfect.

For the hood I'll probably do a small cowl or have it poke through the hood. There is a guy on YouTube with a Z3 with a similar set up. He has his out the hood... Let me see if I can find the link https://youtu.be/brJDyfbaLgU Wait till the end of the video to get a good look at it.

So you think with the added HP & TQ from the LSA Blower, 3.73 is still the way to go?

I would say so. The T56 is geared so low already. I understand that tire size plays into it but I rarely if ever see F-Body guys run below a 3.73 most run 4.10's when upgrading.
