I know it's been said, but divert off I5 and take 205 through Vancouver and back on to I-5. I5 northbound is worst on Fridays. 205 has a few slow spots, especially between Clackamas and the Airport, but NOTHING compared to I5.

Be aware, between Vancouver Wa, and Longview Wa, there have been daily speed traps. Troopers sit on over passes and there are more troopers waiting on on ramps.

Thx Josh and Matt. We do plan to go off to I-205 to cross into WA. We also plan to not be speed demons... No one wants to pay a ticket or get the group of us pulled over.

100F high in Portland today, 86F in Tacoma. So definitely cooler than the valley :)
