help! fuel pump won't come out!

1991 318i sedan

The car didn't start after a short drive yesterday so I popped the back seat off and tapped the pump a few times and it started right up so I went and grabbed a new pump and strainer. After trying for awhile I am unable to get it to come out. The last car I did this on, 325i very, it lifted straight out. It ses to be catching on something but I can't see what. Any pointers?

Did you unbolt the 4 nuts that hold the leveling sensor on first?

That part I didn't remember doing! That got me farther but I have a square peg round hole issue now where I can't get all of it to come out. Any ideas?
