Well two machine shops just said that I have to remove the rod from the booster somehow before they can turn down and thread the rod. Problem is I have never heard anyone do this to an e32 booster. Only other option is to cut and weld.

E32 brake booster rod removal???

E32/ix booster is the same thing, used one off a 735i, mc on e32 is larger 25mm. Got her in, ended up cutting off a 1 1/4" section off the rod and welding back together with a sleeve over it. Basically if you look at the rod, that section that is a larger diameter I cut off. Also had to dremel in the holes on the firewall. I'm not using that spacer but now I don't need a remote reservoir. Also m42 gauge coolant temp sensor screwed right in. No rethreading and it's a single plug but plugs into m50 harness. Only issue I have now is figuring out powersteering lines and she should be in today! Also using stock m42 fluid motor mounts as well as transmission mounts. Pilot bearing on m42 was same as m50, so the g240 mated right up, no messing with flywheel, clutch, pilot bearing, starter, etc.

You're using M42 motor mounts? What arms are you using?
Your plug question, I'm pretty sure the one by the MAF goes to the throttle body, and I don't think the one by the O2 sensor gets used.88 325is - S52 powered

If I used that thick spacer I wouldn't have needed to modify the firewall or rod either, but would've needed a remote reservoir. What's the difference between them?
Bahhh I made a mistake, M42 mounts 100% don't work. Worldpac was closed early Saturday now have to wait til Monday, could've had it running today.
I was doing some digging around after I found the mounts don't fit (doh!) and I think the one by the maf is IAT and the one by o2 is some kind of pcv that needs to be plugged in or else check engine light stays on, but I'm not sure.

The ix booster goes straight on, no spacer, and generally doesn't require much, if any, modification. For me, all that needed to happen was to shave a couple fins off the intake manifold, everything else was just bolt on (including the e32 MC).
Yeah, I was curious about those mounts, I hadn't heard of anyone else using them. I think you're right about the IAT, and I'm not sure about the second one. I have a plug in the O2 area that isn't plugged into anything and just zip tied out of the way, and I have no constant CEL. I'll let someone more knowledgable than me chime in on that one.88 325is - S52 powered
