    Tierod question

Hey guys, so recently smacked a curb and bent my tie rod, went to pull it out and realized it was a standard i/is/e outer tie rod. Before smacking the curb the alignment was perfect. Seeing as ix outer rods are like ~$300, and standard i tie rods are ~$80, does anyone know if the I’s are suitable replacements?

Looking forward to hearing more, I’m trying to refresh my suspension and want to shave costs where save to do so.

Pretty sure IE has them for around the same price as a regular "i" model.

To me those are totally different, when rwd tie rod is straight and ix has little bend. But if there has been already rwd tie rod and it is working like normal, so it sound´s like you can use rwd part then...

hhhmm, very weird, when realoem.com say in part number is same, but when you google, you can see there is different. ix tie rod has little bend forward and rwd model is straight
IX tie rod with inner tie rod

      Rwd outer tie rod

These pics are just for show different has in outer tie rod

Here you go, full iX assemblies (inner+outer) from $35-$200 per side, just depends on how much you want to spend. I got the $35/side ones because this is my winter beater and I just needed something that had a tight ball joint and threads that were not rusted that could be adjusted.

Notice that the iX photo includes the inner tie rod, while the RWD photo shows only the outer.

The iX outer has female threads while the RWD outer has male threads.

They are 100% completely different. Look at the tie rod end, the ix outer end is female, the RWD outer end is male. They are also different lengths and shapes.

Whatever websites said they are the same part are wrong, but that is common for ix stuff. If you look them up on the ETK (realoem.com etc) they are definitely different part #s.

So i was just answer to him, when he say in he´s ix has I/IS/e outer tie rod, to me that sound so weird when they are different.
So that´s why i was post some pics from google to show those differents for him. Ok, my last suggestion is perhaps wrong, but if he had rwd tie rod in there and it is working great, why not use then those...But the end maybe there is some typo or this is not ix car..

Yes, i know they are totally different, but it is weird when realoem.com show this
              http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_0319
              http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...757&series=E30
Then if look this other it show for ix outer tie rod.

Just in general need to be careful and know what part is right and where to look. There has been few time some misunderstanding, when realoem.com can show rwd parts in ix section

Maybe the RWD inner fits the iX rack, allowing the use of the RWD outer?
