Anyone Experiencing Trans Fluid Loss From The Tilted G260?

My trans leaks a bit of fluid from the front seal (I think) during tracking. I get some fluid splatters on the rear of the car after a track day and the fluid level is a little low after a few events. The car did this with the original transmission and its still happening after installing an expensive, freshly rebuilt unit. Its not enough to be a huge concern - just keep an eye on the level.

I've heard of this from one other guy, but I'm curious if many others have the same issue. I believe its somehow a result of the 20 degree tilt that happens with the 24v swap. Anybody have any thoughts?

    Apparently this isn't common.

Just out of curiosity, what is the driveshaft needed when using the e36 trans?

If you use a ZF320, you can use a 328/m3 manual DS, not sure what else.

        Try extending your breather?

the g260 breather is positioned for the SOHC tilt; adding more tilt to it may be the culprit.

Why not just fit a ZF 5 speed? its cheap and more efficient bearing design; closer gear spacing.

the ZF gearbox doesn't leak when installed with 24V in e30; 40+hrs racing it all stock.
        OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

Trans fluid is red if you have an autotragic, or Redline oil.

              Power steering (ATF) leak?

Just to be clear, Redline oil is not inherently red. Redline ATF, like most other ATFs, is red.

I agree, the manual trans oil i used from them was red however. At least that's what i remember...

MTL is kinda red, MT90 is more orange. We go through quite a bit of it at the shop and know the colors since my transfer pump hose is clear.

my post was confusing....I didnt mean my sut was red..lol

anyhew..I do get some grimy residue after a day at the track...hmmm

my ps lines are tight every track day....

I could have a rms drip too... I never considered it being my tilted g260 causing the residue....

I cleaned her all up this past month...so now I hope to trace the loss....

When you say sut, do you mean soot?
