Need help cleaning my dirty wheels...

    Hey,

I have a 325i with 16" inch wheels that are really, really, really dirty.
I need help cleaning it because I am out of idea

There is those nasty black spots only on the chrome portion of the wheel.
So first I though it was tar but apparently not.
I've tried to but some WD40 but did not get rid of it

Second I have those small weird scratches on the inside of the wheel ( On the chrome ) also no idea how to get rid of it.

If it's possible I would like not to use some weird chemical that are really toxic

Anyway if you guys can help me I would really appriciate :D

SRY posting a vid cause don't know how to post a pic

I don't think that is chrome, the aluminum is just polished.

That said, you may have to sand out the "dirt" as it may be pitting and oxidation.

I'd start with Purple Power/Super Clean, then move up to oven cleaner, then try muriatic acid if nothing else works. See here:

After attempting cleaning method after cleaning method, you still cannot remove the residue, tar or sap on your vehicle's wheels. Muriatic acid, an extremely strong and corrosive acid, can work to quickly remove what seems impossible. However, due to its corrosive nature, it should only be used when absolutely ...

You can usually buy muriatic acid at hardware stores as it is used in pools to adjust ph and for use in concrete cleaning.

Tricky, as looks like your wheels are painted and polished.

Start with the most gentle product and work up to more aggressive cleaners
          - regular car wash
          - simple green or other all-purpose cleaner
          - dedicated iron contaminate remover iron-x or sonax

If that doesn't work - sanding and re-painting/re-polishing

Looks like clear coat is going off to me. Nothing you can do but remove the old clear coat and re-apply clear coat to the entire wheel.

              Thx for replies

Thinking about the iron x method
Will try it out and come back to you
