Look for a 2004-2005 2.5XT with a manual transmission. These have an engine which is identical to that of an STi ... only they've fitted the smaller turbo, intercooler, and exhaust from the regular WRX. That means you can find a guy who upgraded his STi and buy his stock turbo, intercooler, and exhaust to make yourself an STi in disguise.

While you're at it, pick up the stock STi suspension (including the Brembo big brakes all around). All that stuff bolts right on. After upgrades and an ECU reflash, you'll be looking at 320hp at the crank using all OEM parts. It's a real sleeper.

Even a stock 2.5XT with nothing but upgraded suspension will leave a 3.0L X3 for dead in the dry and still run circles around it in the snow. Upgrade the turbo (and associated plumbing/tuning) and you'll be taking the fight to E36 and E46 M3's.

Jean, DO NOT buy an X3.

        Trust me.

          Range Rover > X3

That's if I had to rock an SUV. Even a wagon is a much more economical and practical car, especially when compared to the X3.

The Forester seems to be a nice ride, and much more practical than the X3.

I spent 3 hours in one yesterday in the snow storm and all I have to say
is that they are worthless in the snow... the awd sucks

This isn't for me, and would not consider a Rover especially used one lol.
