well, if you count the B-pillar, door and window hardware, it's probably about 50lbs or less. not really a big deal. plus, 4 doors tend to be stiffer and having a B pillar right next to your head is a good thing :)
um just to let you know its about a 200 pound difference and four door cars are alot less stiff. ill let you know the exact weight difference when i get home and look it up.

You're a dumbass. If you have no fucking clue what you're talking about then don't post.
Back on topic.
Anyway, Depending on which e30, it ranges from as low as a 30ish lb difference up to a 60lb difference, and yes, e30 as well as e36 sedan's have a more rigid chassis.
If you want to compare two of the exact same chassis, ie. '89 325i 4 door vs. '89 325i 2 door, both cars manual transmission, and neither of them an ix, than expect the 4 door to be about 40lbs heavier. Fred Kim did an AWESOME job of getting all the specs for U.S. e30's, all model year, etc.. Check out his website under Technical Information and Specifications page two. He's got every single e30's weight, including all 2 and 4 door cars, automatic and manual trans difference, and rear wheel and four wheel drive difference.
P.S. This is a reminder for members, if you aren't sure about information, don't post it like it's a fact. Misinformation runs rampant because too many people who think they know what they are talking about post entirely too much bullshit.
ah.. so if i got a 4 door instead of 2 door.. my performance really wouldn't be that hindered at all.. and with the stiffer chassis, might even improve cornering and what not?

Correct.
I'm pretty partial to the aesthetics of the 2-door though. The 4-door doesn't really do it for me.

yar.. two door is hawt.
but this is just another thing i can allow to be lenient on if the right sale comes aloong.
A 4 door being stiffer than a 2 door is new to me. I always figured that cutting an extra pair of holes in the side of a car to put doors there would be worse for structural integrity... :?
Now that I've owned a 2dr for a while, every time I get in a 4dr car I bang my ass on the B pillar. I love coupes. :) So much easier to get in and out of, bigger windows to see out of, not to mention less room for 2-3 backseat drivers we all don't need.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
What about weight distribution? Anyone have any 2dr vs. 4dr info? I assume 4drs would have more weight over the back than 2drs but it would be interesting if someone could quantify it.
the 4-door is more rigid because there's a large strong B pillar that needs to hold up a door. the weight difference isn't much as you would think, because the door on the 2-door is larger & heavier than the ones found on a 4-door, narrowing the expected weight difference a little
sure the 4-door has "an extra pair of holes in the side" like Tangent said, but like i said above, because the doors need something to mount to, a B-pillar was put in place that not only holds the doors up but contributes to structural rigidity
also, the doors are not much different than the side panneling thats behind the large door of a 2-door... so there's not much extra weight there, either... and the glass?... well, a 2-door has glass behind the doors, too.... just no motor & track to move it up & down.
and the handle mechanism doesn't weigh much either
basically at first i can see how alot of guys would think that a 4-door would be significanly heavier than a 2-door... but the more you think about it, the more common sense will prevail & tell you that yes, there is definitely a weight difference, just not quite as much as you would think
As for weight distribution, i'm gonna venture a guess & say that the difference would be very negligible, but the 4-door would probably have a slight edge if there was any difference at all
