Loving the build thread! I've been wanting to do this for a few years now, and now seeing more of what's involved is great for planning my dream build!
One question though: Have you thought about the brake booster? I know with s/m6x builds Garagistic offers a boosterless pedal setup and compensate with a different master/slave cylinder combo to ease the braking force required. But with all that power, it would be nice to have power brakes too, and a bias valve is easy enough to install to tune your system, especially with those lovely calipers tucked in there. It appears (from other v10 swaps I've seen) that the passenger side firewall would have space for the booster, but with my limited knowledge on how the booster works, I have a feeling that it isn't possible to move it laterally. I know you could extend it to the front of the engine bay, but that's not an option really if you plan on using dual intakes. I'm just wondering what your plans are and if you've come up with a viable solution for this yet.
Keep up the good work though, I'm excited to see it all come together!
Build was delayed for a bunch of different reasons but things are starting to move along again. The goal is to have it for vintage in NC the endish of May.
So...back to some updates. This will be a bit of a hodgepodge until I get on a bit more of a schedule to keep up on updates.
We had taken a cut out of the drivers side frame rail to fit the e60 radiator.
So then we needed to box it back up.
And we wanted AC so to fit the compressor and lines a notch was required on the passenger side.
Will get some custom lines but the e60 ones are a start...
Fitting the air boxes and making mounts
Close to the ABS pump....
Similar setup on the passenger side.
The trans sits so high in the tunnel that there was NO room for the shifter carrier. So it got chopped and mounted a little different.
Start with some raw bits...
Weld raw bits together...I am getting better at TIGing Aluminum but still have a ways to go. It's strong just not always pretty.
