Need new cam- oem or aftermarket?

My friends 89 325ic was diagnosed with a broken rocker. The broken rocker is being blamed on a bad cam. The oem is super expensive $950 ish and aftermarket is about half that price. It is at an independent European car repair service. Any further advice is appreciated. Thanks.

A bad cam probably isn't the cause unless there is something abnormal about it but if it's worn to hell may as well replace

Febi oe is about $150-170 much less than half what genuine is. There have been a few threads discussing the quality so maybe search those. Forget about 900 for genuine You can get a new schrick for a lot less.

You will need all new rockers not just a broken one to ensure you get a good breakin with a new cam

I installed a Kolbenschmidt just recently when I redid my cylinder head.
I paid 240€, as I had my doubts with the Febi one.
