I’m trying to wire up a cheap head into my 88 325ix and I’m running into what might be an issue. I know I need a floating ground adapter to connect to the floating ground head without blowing it. I attempted to test it by connecting the yellow and blue wires that go to the fader into my head unit and I connected the grounds to chassis ground and I didn’t get any sound. My question is are you able to connect a modern head unit to the car by connecting the speaker grounds on the head unit to chassis ground? If not how do people connect it without the adapter?
