They are great looking cars, but some of these posted are just UGLY... when the rear is tucked in TOO MUCH it looks f-ing retarded imho.

Did someone say manual?
This was my 740iL with a brand new knob and boot installed as the manual trans conversion was completed. It was kinda cool ordering up the euro E38 manual trans shift boot here in the US.
I don't remember much about it except I bought a 2000 540 6-speed trans and some bits from a dismantler I found on car-part.com for $1800. I think the other bits that had to be ordered from Europe, the modified driveshaft, and labor was something like $6000. If you can do it yourself more power to you. It really makes the E38 a much more interesting car.
