SFI Desertification of IMPACT RACING safety equipment

Got an email from safe racer about this today.
Welcome to SFI Foundation The SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI) is a non-profit organization established to issue and administer standards for the quality assurance of specialty performance and racing equipment. The SFI Foundation has served the automotive aftermarket and the motorsports industry since 1978. Our service to the industry is a system of developing and administering various standards, certifications and testing criteria for use in motorsports.

I wonder what Impact owner Bill Simpson, former owner of Simpson, is doing about this.

The dispute is about certification tags. Enjoy,

pretty interesting, especially after the counterfeit HANS anchors that Impact was using earlier.

hmmm, interesting as well, I guess Bill Simpson may have been the issue all along as simpson was known for making belts, sticking them in a warehouse and then punching the date when they shipped under his watch (not a crashcar fan but this is the real reason for Dale Earnhardts death, he had a 4yr old belt in the car and SFI certs are good for 2). Granted there is no gaurantees in this business but I will definately continue to buy FIA rated equiptment for my track car...

Is this situation only in regards to the Hans anchors/belts that he was selling? Or is it in regards to every product he sells?

What happens to the individuals who already purchased products from him before this investigation came into effect?

helmet posts will be replaced by HANS. The suits will make great pyjamas...

Or call Impact, and ask for a full refund. Items are not what they are claimed to be.

Now, the big job from SFI is to reach every single motorsport club in North America, letting them know that Impact equipment is NOT SFI compliant and should be refused at technical inspections.... I already posted two notices on my Facebook Group (The Track Committee).

This is such an inconvenience, I just got a helmet from them and now its not good?
                      The problems never end...

I have been reading other forums and they all say the same thing:

"IMPACT RACING PRODUCT RECALL. Any and all driver suits, pants, jackets, shoes and boots manufactured by Impact Racing pursuant to SFI Specifications 3.2A/15, 3.2A/20, 3.3/15 and 3.3/20 at any time during the year 2008 have been decertified by SFI Foundation, Inc. and must be immediately returned to Impact Racing offices or an Impact representative."

I will have to call and see if there is a problem with the helmets SA2005 certifications..

If you have a helmet and wish to use it at HPDEs, then the standard to follow is the SNELL standard. Most likley a SNELL 2005...

                              Thanks Lee,

I had the impression that it was not going to be good when you said their complete line-up of products were being decertified...,
