    m20 adjustable cam gear

Hi, trying to find adjustable camshaft pulley for m20 engine.
at the moment could find only one style pulleys on e-bay, maybe someone used them, and could say something about them, or give some other advice?
other variant of course is ppf pulley, just maybe there is something cheaper but the same quality.

I doubt you're going to find cheaper than ebay Chinese made, but for quality...

that nuke product is what I mean about PPF pulley, I want something like that, but bit cheaper, Chinese pulley is not my goal at all.

I used to sell the ebay pulley and while they would work in a pinch the teeth were just far enough off that it would stretch the belt abnormally (I did see a couple cases of rapid timing belt wear associated with this issue).

Took these pictures to illustrate the problem ....

No, there is no "cheaper" alternative that is worth anything at this point. The guys at VAC do one, but they just machine out an existing gear and put their own innards in it (and the pricing is a hair bit more).

yeah, that ebay gear isn't bad quality but the belt teeth aren't quite right. it makes installing the belt a giant pain in the ass.

Was there an issue with the Nuke ones at one time?

The belt fits that way on my Nuke one as well, I was surprised at the fit. I didn't know if it fit that way on a new OEM one and wears in over time.

I took some pic of all three as well a while back, I will see if I can find them.

I don't see how a rubber belt could wear a steel gear.

^ Nando, you've got it backwards (as I'm guessing you were guessing).

Yes, but it was something they nipped in the butt pretty quick.

Same as a rubber crank seal wears a groove into the crank

Bummer, I guess not quick enough for me 8^(

So they originally designed it up from an ebay one and not an OEM?!?! 8^)

i have a new Nuke and OEM here in front of me, the contibelt wraps around the OEM slighty better than it does on the Nuke which needs a little bit of tension to get it to fully mate.

The blue gates fits OEM well but on the Nuke it would need even more tension than the conti to fully mate but not near as bad as the IE bottom pic.

if you compare teeth they are slighty different shape (depth) on the Nuke vs OEM gear. in a way it makes sense for the belt to fit best under a bit of tension as that's how it operates.

ive been using a nuke for 8 years and done a few belt swaps without issues and will be using another for new engine. the biggest hassle was having to pull the hex bolts for the cam seal carrier (one at a time) and countersink the carrier to fit countersunk screws but dont know if this is still the case.
