    Tranny is knocking hard.

When i press the clutch in the knock will go away.
you can hear whatever it is that's making the knocking sound spin to a stop.
in 3rd it knocks HARD, but if i let off and cruise in 3rd it won't knock so hard.

idk what this is exactly but i think the tranny is blown.
Shifts ok for now. you guys have any thoughts?

I'd vote for countershaft bearings, but yeah, either way,
things inside are not doing well...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Thanks for the posts i'm getting a better idea of what it is now.

The shims that go between the input shaft seal and the bearing where not
put in. not by me btw. i'm guessing that made the shaft/bearing wobble around until bearing death perhaps??

Man, that sounds awful. Definitely not the usual "Getrag rattle". Maybe a broken shift fork or something flopping around?

is it a circlip? if so youll need some circliip pliers.

I went down the google rabbit hole and came across this

instructions on the tool you will need to push the input shaft through that bearing. I've got a dodgy gbox at home, i might do the same to mine. looks easy enough.

you can pop that clip out with two screw drivers

LOL! Yes, two tool truck pocket screwdrivers will do it in a pinch, even some long needle-nose pliers. If you have a reverse snap ring plier, they sometimes work.

na, so i got clip pliers and i couldn't figure it until the end, but, had to get an angle grinder.
Every bolt on this thing is completely off and the clip is off the shaft.

Can't get it off any advice?

Hey so I couldn't get it apart for some reason
                            So it got trashed.

                            Theoretical question.
When it started to knock it was boosting pretty hard in 5th. Taking it up and down.
The diff is somewhat short 65mph 2400 rpms..
is 5th gear weaker where something fucked causing that knock because of 5th?

if so i have a longer diff i can throw back in maybe it'll make it survive longer.
i got a dot-r tranny super fresh shifts clean af.
don't know if i want to fuck it up the same way.

or it could of just been because there was no input shaft shims idk.

final form improved m30 trans. allot of little improvements on this thing.
