    Alpina B3 2.7 Track Car

After standing around for a few years as a stripped shell, I have put the car back together.

As an intro to the car, here is a video from a recent open day at a track in South Africa. I live up on the reef, roughly 1600m above sea level), and naturally aspirated engines suffer somewhat.

The limit is at 7,100 rpm and I change at 7,000 rpm. The oil temp gauge is not yet installed so cannot report on that but water temp does not rise above 88 deg C (accurate STACK gauges in car) on a hot day.

cool car. how much track experience do you have and what kind of run group was that? Eveyone's lines were all over the place, in combination with open passing. looked like a dangerous mix

Thanks, I have a fair amount of track experience and while I am one of the faster drivers, I am not the best. In South Africa there aren't that many people attending track days, so dividing the field into closely matched groups is not feasible.

Despite the speed discrepancies, I cannot remember two cars ever touching each other in all the years that I have been there.

The Golfs towards the end of the video were all from a local racing series and that was their practice weekend. Such overtaking as seen there, normally gets you black flagged immediately.

That blown 540i is pretty impressive as well.

Thanks for all the positive comments about the video.

Here is another video from the car's first trackday.
First outing for the Alpina B3 as a dedicated track car. Unfortunately it rained and the car no longer has windscreen wipers.

There were only 15 Alpina B3 2.7 cars made under license in SA. They started with a regular 2 door 325i and upgraded it with Alpina parts. There was nothing special about the gauge cluster - if you're referring to the digital gauge installed in the aircon vent, that only came out on the 333i. By the way, the car in your sig looks awesome.

one of the engine mods coming soon

Interesting exhaust, I've never seen that before. What are the benefits of doing that? Seems like it would just move the cg up higher.

Great driving! The ITB's look sweet.
