I’ve taken on a plastic bumper swap on my 1987 325e. I have finished the front and everything went smoothly because it is pretty much just bolt in. The rear involves a little more fabrication.
My question is about the side clips for the rear bumper. There is a single plastic clip for each side of the bumper. Now the R3v bumper swap guide doesn’t go into many details about how to mount the sides, but it does mention that there should already be bolt holes to work with. Mine does not have bolt holes and when the black clips are installed it seems to push the bumper away from the body creating a large gap.
For those who have done this job, how did you accomplish mounting the rear bumper on the sides.
Other info. I do understand that I will need to cut the bumper end caps. I’m not worried about that. I also have not yet installed the later rear valence but I do have one cut out of a later car.
