        RubbA!!!

I finally got aff my ass and made some spacer/adaptors to adapt to 5x120
we cut & flared all four fenders & mounted up some E46M3 rear wheels in all four corners - now she is running Hoosier A6's 18 x 255 - Then we stripped the interior out & took about 120lbs out of the car.
It's super fun with lots of power & grip.
(I just need to learn some more AutoX skills)

        EnjoY!

          Update!!!

          Update
Just threw in some ARP studs & .140 MLS head gasket.
Here is my design for a new 2 piece crank pulley to spin up the blower to 14000rpm + & hopefully double the boost.
I will report again when I get it on and continue tuning.
          (Hopefully hit a dyno sometime).

            Great read, any updates?
Also any chance you can take a better photo of the throttle body / intake area please?

No updates yet - Still working on larger Pulley.

Here is a sa slightly better shot of the TB.

Just out of curiosity, why are you running two bypass valves?

When I first put it together the hose I had connecting the bypass would become sucked closed due to huge vacuum or possibly just engine heat - I replaced the hose with wire reinforced tubing and added a second bypass to ensure there were absolutly no issues.
It may be OK with just one but I haven't actually tried it out.
                  I hope that helps.

That's the blower whine your hearing - around 11000 rpm's

Thinking of going to a 30mm wide 8mm pitch toothed belt setup.

The design numbers are off the charts by the Gates manual.
But I need more boost & no more slippage...

As you can see in the 4th pick - chart - My 26 tooth pulley will be running 14200 RPM & using 55HP

                            It's somewhat of a gamble...

                            Thoughts??

I think you're reading the chart wrong. The 26 & 2.607 at the top of the column are the tooth count and pitch diameter of the small pulley.

It looks like you're thinking 2.607 is the drive ratio, but it's not, if you're using a 56 tooth crank pulley and a 26 tooth blower pulley. The actual drive ratio with that combo is 2.154.

Of course the belt drive won't be consuming 52 horsepower... it'll be able to transmit 52 HP.

However, if "RPM of the faster shaft" means what it looks like it means, you'll be well off the high end of that table, because that would be 5500 blower RPM, which will be 2550 engine RPM with that pulley combo.

The table is set up with the tension limits of the belt in mind. That basically means the torque you can transmit is the allowable belt tension times the radius of the smaller pulley. Since the smaller pulley is on the faster shaft, they call it the faster shaft.

Since you're spinning your engine to 6500, the blower will turn 14000 with a 56/26 pulley pair. Since the power transmitted is a slightly non-linear function of RPM, I guesstimate that extending the table that far would show that with the faster shaft turning that speed, the belt drive can transmit ~120 HP. That's a *SERIOUS* blower.

I like this idea a lot. I've briefly considered using decommissioned m20 timing pulleys and belt to turn my m90.

I like that the pulleys are available on the intertubes. Just too damn expensive.
