    Exhaust manifolds! I think they will be just as difficult for me, haha.

        I'm now doing exhaust, so we can bounce ideas off each other. Check out my build thread tomorrow morning.

          Brake line help needed:

          As I understand it, e30's use 10x1.5mm bubble flare fittings. What size metal brake line do I want to purchase, and where can I get quality metal lines/fittings? I can't come across any fittings that look like the factory ones.

          Also, one of my M/C outputs is 12mm. Are there 12mm->10mm reducers available, or can I put a 12mm fitting on the same size line that the 10mm fittings go on?

          Am I OK to use a M/C from the e34 540i designed for ABS (only has 2 outputs), and split the front brake lines with a 'T'?

                I'll share what I end up doing when it's finished.

                Garey is busy working on his car, and basically working on mine as well. So while he's actually out getting shit done, I have time to BS on the internet and come up with ways to make things more difficult then they need to be.

                I'm going to need to put a "Built by Garey" sticker on my car. And he'll need to put a "Project delayed by Justin" sticker on his...

                  Normal 4mm (or was it 5mm?) brake line will do.

                  Didn't you take a look on how the brake-lines go from MC to ABS and from there to wheels ..? :)

                    Metric isn't really as "normal" over here.

                    It doesn't matter how they go on an ABS car, mine is non-ABS.

                    ---------------------------------

                    Here is the plan, using 3/16" brake line:

                    Front M/C outlet -> T fitting -> Front wheels
                    Rear M/C outlet -> Rear brake pipe

                    The rear M/C output is 12x1.0mm, all other fittings are 10x1.0mm. Autozone sells a 12x1.0mm fitting that is designed for 3/16" brake line. So I'll do 12x1.0 on the M/C end end and 10x1.0 on the other end where it meets the rear brake line.

                    I'm going to use union fittings (a female->female 10x1.0mm fitting) to connect to my stock front brake hard lines, so that I won't need to bend new lines, I'll just need to extend them to the new M/C location. I'll probably rebend the ends of the stock lines, to tuck them in to the frame rail as opposed to sticking up in the engine bay where the stock M/C was.

                    Here are the correct bubble flare parts I'll be using:

                    10x1.0mm union fittings (female->female):

                    *OR*
                    BMW Part # 34326757282

                    10x1.0mm fittings:

                    12x1.0mm fittings:

                    10x1.0mm 'T' fitting:
                    BMW part# 34341111435

                    25' Poly-coated 3/16" brake line

                      Well, then just convert them to the 1/35461" things you have over there.. ?

                      Regarding ABS vs non-ABS, just make it as it was from the factory. In case there is only one outlet from the MC for front brakes, just use a divider.

                      ... just wondering why you people ask so many simple questions as you could well "solve" them by using the time for thinking, not posting to the forums.

                          Maybe it's not so 'simple' for me? I did some research, came to a few conclusions, and had a few questions and wanted some things verified. Why would I waste my time asking the questions if I knew the answers, or knew I could easily find them?

                            Alright guys, let's stay on topic here. Jgood is not to be treated like lolcantturn.

                            This guy has contributed a lot to this forum and his issues deserve some serious consideration. I haven't gotten to the 1/4" 3/16" MC conversion yet, but I'm getting there and will definitely turn to this thread for advice/contribution.

                            Let's keep it clean and leave the superfluous comments out of the thread.
