Anyone who knows what a resistor is doesn't shop at radio shack. They are worthless. Most of them sell cell phones more than anything.

Strange...I guess no one rents video tapes anymore.

Yes but their component drawers are (were?) a godsend in a pinch. Still takes mouser or digikey a day or two to get those resistors to you.

The market has changed a lot for who radio shack serves, and TBH I don't recall in the last 15yrs when I have been able to go into one and get any advice. I used to be in their stores a lot. After they stopped selling most of their market products, I stopped going. Great place for kids/young adults to get into all kinds of electronics. I for one will miss what they were. Just like an audio hobby shop, which is also a lost art

That's too bad, but I only ever used them a couple times a year at most. I have a Fry's local too, and even their component selection kinda sucks. Our local electronics shop closed a few years ago too and now the guy sells out of his home or something? It's so expensive to rent space for a business, it's really not worth it for these places now that everything is disposable. Ugh

Yeah, but 1 in 5 times they won't have what I need. Or they will have 1 of something when you need 2 or 3.

They saved me more than a few times on various components. Repaired an ecm or two with RadioShack.

However I have to admit whenever I tried to have someone point me in the right direction, they rarely knew what I was asking for. Nowadays I just tell them no thanks and I'll find it.

A few years ago I made the mistake of buying an HDMI cable there. I don't know what I was thinking.
