No announcement yet.
Pelosi wants to name a Navy ship after John Murtha.
Yes this is the same guy that accused Marines of murdering civilians just days after a report of civilian deaths. Without bothering to see what an investigation comes up with.
John Murtha, Iraq, Haditha, Marines, Article, 2013939
This guy was a piece of shit imo.

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen" Barack Obama
There's no reason that he should be on a TV show claiming cover up's and murder before the investigation has concluded. The things he said are blatantly biased against the Military and our Serving men and women in the Military. What a slap in the face.
“But change would not mean rejection of the past. Like a tree growing strong through the seasons, rooted in the Earth and drawing life from the Sun, so, too,...
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised the Navy’s decision to name an amphibious warship after Rep. John Murtha, but the formal announcement last Friday added fuel to an already smoldering backlash online."
Your thread title makes it seem like it was her idea.
It wasn't.
Looks like some of you fellows took the bait without digging a little. :p

Do some research. It was Polosi's idea. But that doesn't change the fact the Navy still decides.
The Navy doesn't just come up with these ideas on their own...
But you can keep arguing semantics all day long.

Research? Neither of the links you posted in any way support your assertion! Show me the link where Pelosi claims to have come up with idea. She certainly doesn't claim it on her official site. I would think she would-she claims every-fucking-thing-else! Uber-conservative blogger Michele Malkin doesn't point a finger either.
I see things on blogs like "some people speculate it was Pelosi's idea". Speculate. As in they don't know.
Again. Post the link that affirmatively ties her to this.
Not defending Pelosi, or Murtha, but there's a big difference between "might have" and "did".
there's not much love for this from the navy- some outside commentators (military bloggers, etc.) have likened it to calling a ship the "USS Jane Fonda" (for you young types, she was slipped a piece of paper in Vietnam during an anti-war visit by an American POW. It contained the names of everyone in the camp, which the N. Vietnamese weren't releasing. she turned the list over to the North Vietnamese, and the POW's were tortured. Repeatedly. And their families missed the opportunity to know if their husbands/dads were alive.)
I haven't seen many favorable reactions to this from inside the Navy on all levels.

While her other actions were despicable, the part about her leaking the secret documents to the NVA is an internet rumor. Just sayin'
