    Noise from the steering column

    Hey guys,

Betty has been sitting in the garage for a quite some time now, the other day I took it for a ride and it did this noise that sounded like the hinges of an old door, sometimes it actually stays stuck(can't turn) for a fraction of a second. It used to do that before I parked it but as I get ready to drive/beat it again it's something that needs to get fixed. Reason why I parked it you may ask, it needs a throw bearing(no funds to get it done)!
Drive it like you just stole it! :p

Most likely the swivel joint between the rack and lower steering shaft. They tend to seize up.

    Part # 32311155102

There are bearing on the upper steering shaft but I have yet to see one go bad.

You can soak it in PB blaster and that will help for a bit.

Unfortunately the issue is that the ball in the u-joint is rusty because the rubber seals have broken off, so the only real fix is replacing it. It is a pain in the ass to do, but you will be amazed at how much easier your steering becomes.
