    320i trackcar (m52b28 build)

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum and found it during my search for information on placing a m52b28. I actually have this E30 now for 18 year, I bought it as my first car. After 2 years I had a frontal accident with it and desided to buy a different car from the insurence money. But I kept the e30 to fix it later. Some years passed and I changed my mind and made a trackcar of it and drove it around the track for 13 years untill last year when I wanted to put more power in it. I found an e39 528i and start swapping.

But still it started and drove perfect. After some cleaning:

So last year I started to think about improving the performance and I found a very cheap e39 m52b28

And I started to get the engine out and sell all the other parts to get a bit of money back.

Made a movie, its a bit dark but you will get the picture:

          Changes made:
          - Rear disc brakes
          - 188 diff (3.71)
          - e34 carter
          - e36 mounts
          - ECU deleted EWS, ABS, revlimit 7000
          - removed airco and powersteering
          - replaces brake booster (renault clio)

          Fitted the engine:
update, m52 pas klaar gemaakt, m20 eruit en de m52 alvast erin gehangen om te passen.

And at this point I have the engine running, wiring is a nightmare. There is little to no info on the e39 without x20. The only help I found was on this forum. I'm now only lost with the CEL and the obd2. I thought I had it working and sorted out. But apparently I broke something because the obd2 is not responding anymore...

I also fixed the exhaust last weekend :)

try to get a wiring harness from a E36, it will save you a big headache.

Some pictures of the progress converting to an m52b28

I found a very cheap e39 to break down

Timelaps movie taking out the engine. It is a bit dark, youtube made it even darker :(

              Fitting the m52

Now I made the exhaust and figured out 90% of the wiring. Im's still struggling with the OBD and check engine light. (There is not much info to be found for the e39 conversion)
The engine is running and runs very smooth.

              ToDo:
              - change all rubber suspension parts
              - change diff
              - figure out wiring issue (obd and CEL)
              - finish up, clean wiring and stuff
