    Rear Subframe Bushings

Hey guys, trying to remove the rear sub but the bushings are stuck. No amount of whacking or yanking is dropping it. Is there any way to detach the rubber from that center hole so I can finally remove it? Melting it isnt an option with the fuel so close.

It's the metal inner sleeve that's stuck in the body. The method I used after 3 days of fighting w it was to tap the sleeve, screw in a piece of 5/8 threaded rod then use the weight from a slide hammer on the rod. 3 good whacks and she dropped

        Subframe Bushings

Just did the job. It is absolute hell, but the only way I was able to do it was by using a heat gun and slowly heating up the housing and then pressing the pushing out. I'm not sure theres another way to do it. Burning it out can be done if you don't have a press. I even had the Sir Tool 3026 but that did not help at all. My 325 was at 225k miles and probably original bushings so I think I had the 'worst case scenario' in terms of difficulty of removal. Good luck, its a shitty job.

Yeah its an 89, original bushings, totally seized. Looks like my only option is to burn it out!

Done! Usee some heat, softened the bushing, and kicked the ever living hell out of it. Dropped. Appreciate the help!

Too close to the fuel lines, some of us live more dangerously. ;)

The aluminum sleeve insert of the bushing chemically welds to the steel of body. It is a giant PIA.

Drivers right side dropped after being there for 30 years, no problem. For the left hand side I had to rotate the subframe around and position it directly under the spring perch. I then used a small bottle jack wedged between the subframe and the perch to drive the two apart. The sleeve broke off in the cup and I drilled it out. Problem solved.
