Funkmasta (Joe Funk) aka Autobahn Sport

Bought a full set of 89 front & rear bumpers, valance, fog lamps, & brake ducts also sent me some coil packs and a guage cluster for my E36.

Ships fast, answers calls fast, and is very fair about pricing.

Took a trip to Portland yesterday to get a late-model rear apron from Joe. He gave me a great price, and even bought me lunch in exhange for helping him start to tear down an E30 cabby. No one should ever hesitate to do business with Joe.

          A very big " +1 " !

My buddy got his S50 motor for his E30 swap from him, so I went on his word about Joe when it came time for my OBD1 S52 motor. Only good stuff to say about the guy!

Joe has been the most standup guy to deal with - it's sometimes a few days before he can get back to you, (no doubt because business is good when your prices are fair and you are a reliable guy) but he NEVER drops the ball.

Always a pleasure doing business and a real asset to the BMW community.

Just finished another perfect transaction with Joe. He's as reliable as they come, and actually I think he's even better to deal with than a lot of new part vendors out there.

Funkmasta FTW! Joe gave me a good price on a radiator and got it here in 3 days. You're the man Joe, thanks very much.

I recommend him just because he was also the most patient buyer I've ever dealt with. It took me FOREVER to get a rear apron shipped out and he wasn't the least bit concerned.

Bought two 318iS gray cloth sport seats from Funkmasta. Was worried about condition because online pictures are never accurate. Seats were in great condition, and packaged very well (OR - NJ). Definitly happy with the transaction.

Plain and simple, Joe is one of the most honest sellers in the BMW community. He is always very patient with you and doesnt mind answering a million and one questions you might have. But best of all, he doesnt have an attitude that so many of the big name shops have when you call them up and start asking questions. He is more than willing to take any pictures you might want/need.

I think my situation especially exemplifies the quality of his character. I bought an S14 from him about 6 months ago. I paid a premium for the motor because it only had 70k miles on it, although both he and I knew that he couldve gotten more for it had he offered it to the masses. He told me up front that the motor had been sitting for a couple of years but that the PO had told him that he had squirted oil in the cylinders every once in awhile and cranked it over. We were both under the impression that the motor was in good working condition. Transaction went very smoothly, motor showed up a few days later at my door.

A few months later, when I finally got around to tearing the motor down in order to replace all bearings for good insurance, I found rust on two of the cylinder walls. It was painfully obvious that the lazy PO had squirted oil in only two of the cylinders and no the other two. Took the motor to my machine shop and asked them to just perform a simple brush hone to just get rid of the rust but still be able to reuse the stock pistons. Much to my dismay, the rust was gone, but pitting caused by the rust was discovered. Block was bored and oversized pistons were purchased.

I was obviously a little ticked having spent extra money to not have to go through a full rebuild. I informed Joe of all the issues. He NEVER once questioned anything I claimed. I sent him pictures anyways so he wouldnt think I was scamming him or anything of the sort. All he was interested in was getting me happy and fixing the situation. He is a young guy but very much realizes that the success of his relatively new business lives and dies by the reputation he builds. He promptly rectified the situation, which should be obvious by my review.

All in all, I will be going to Joe for my S50 when the time comes, unless I find a good local specimen. He gets multiple cars in every week and will most likely have the motor you are looking for in the price range you need.

Funk for Official R3V Engine Supplier.

                              Thanks again Joe.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
