I wasn't sure which section to ask in. Also, I haven't come across a thread which answered this for me.
The fan clutch on my '91 318is began to have a constant whine. I decided to pull it off and no more noise. I also have a parts car 325is which I had removed the fan clutch with the fan. I was unsure if it would fit, part numbers are different for just the fan. The 4 cylinders fan's are 8 blade 400mm vs. 6 cylinder 11 blade 410mm? 11521719267 and 11521723363. Side by side, they looked the same size, same number of blades?.., and possibly the difference I saw was that some fins were pointed in the opposite direction but not all.
I popped the donor one on, no noise, seems to be spinning just fine. Does not rub or hit anything.
However, will it not engage or cool properly when the radiator needs the fan to cool it?
