tranny stuck in 5th gear

today i was driving and when i pulled up to the toll booth i could not get out of 5th gear. Linkage is all connected properly but still i cant get out of 5th.

Sounds like a problem inside the case.

Happened to a buddy but in reverse. It was in front of my house too! Tranny needed to be rebuilt so the best thing to do was get a used one and throw it on. It was fun moving the car every week for street cleaning. Driving around the block a few times in reverse was quite a show for the neighbors.
