The best YouTube video I found was this one which is E30 sport seat specific.

I would not reuse that backing. If anything I would get some polyester batting from a fabric store if you are wanting more cushion.

I am only considering using another layer as that is how the seat covers were made by BMW. That and It would be an additional layer between the foam that Lseat uses and the OEM foam. I looked at some batting at my local Hobby Lobby but, have a local upholstery shop who I can ask what they would recommend.

Finally found some time to get back on this project. I tackled the back seats first thinking these would be easier. The covers fit nicely. I did have to use some pliers for added grip as I was stretching the cover over the foam.

I only ended up with two creases that I wish were not there but, I have seen other seat covers installed by E30 owners that did not appear to fit as nicely as these. So far I am very happy with them. Now to tackle the more intricate front seats.

I gave the leather a treatment of Leatherique rejuvenator oil while the seats are in where it is warm. I figured it couldn't hurt.

It is difficult to capture the true color of the brown. It looks very similar to the current darker brown in the modern BMWs. More pics to follow as I work on the front seats.

The driver's seat is all covered. For never having done upholstery work before I am very happy with the way they turned out. I still have to put the top and back together but, I cleaned and painted the rails and need to let them dry first.

The only observation I have is regarding the bottom seat cushion. The original leather wrapped around the bottom sides and had enough material to wrap underneath and was then stapled. The Lseat.com cover only had enough material to wrap around the sides. Fortunately the 3M adhesive I used secured the cover in place while I installed it. Once installed the hog rings further secured the entire seat bottom and cover to the seat frame.

I have no doubt that I will be buying a black perforated set for the sport seats in my iX at some point in the future.

Driver's seat all back together except for a couple of the plastic trim pieces. I am very happy with how it turned out.

One down, one to go.

Looks awesome for the price. What kind of leather is it? What colour did you originally have?

I am not certain what kind of leather it is. I can say that it is as thick as the original leather. My original leather was pearl beige.

My desire was a darker brown and I am very happy with the color. The Leatherique treatment made the leather even a bit darker which is fine by me.
