to be honest i found that doing mine in sign writing vinyl turned out a really nice result......looks matt and not shiny, and also has the option of being able to take it off whenever! the only hard part was the chrome trims above the doors....took me ages to figure out how to get them off! doesnt matter anyway now for me...M325 here i come :D

Really old thread but I found this on ebay. I am going to probably get flamed for this. I don't know if this allows me to take it off and have the chrome again but if it does then I have choices. Does anyone sell replacement black pieces like the our grilles?

      Thanks

        Thanks
I actually bought that stuff from the same exact guy a couple years ago. It worked very well on my e34. It was somewhat of a pain on the back door chrome trim because the trim was a few inches thick, but luckily the seam was on the inside of the door. Just take your time and make sure you do it in the sun. Its lasted well for the past two years except it only gets 7k miles put on a year and is not exposed to harsh weather elements.
Im going to paint the trim on the e30 this time.

thanks for the help. I won't have to worry about the doors because it is a vert that I am doing this too. I would paint it and I know it is an easy job, but I don't know if I will like it and then I really don't want to mess it up, and if I do I will be pissed off and set fire too it haha.

                Damn Delta, that looks great.

I'm doing mine this weekend for sure, but I've got OEM shadowline from a 318iS. :D

Negative on the tape, painted on. And 318 shadowline trim ftw!

when painting the trim, can you also paint the B pillar at the same time to match everything?

Personally I think your car looked better with the chrome trim. It matched the polished lip wheels and the chrome diving boards.

Yeah, I think that is the feeling I get when looking at the pics, but in person the shadowline makes it look so mean! I will take pics soon that showcase the car a little better.
