    My “free” e30

Hello r3ver’s so I’ve finally got to making my official build thread for my 1987 325is. I work in pest control so I see a lot of yards and neighborhoods and I’m always on the look out for good picks and barn finds. It was just another day spraying away in the heat of the CA summer dreaming of Bimmers when I found what will turn out to be one hell of a project.
So I never really knew too much about the e30 so I asked my customer what’s the story with the bimmer? She says that it was her fathers he was a cinematographer after he passed she inherited it. She was telling me that she really loves the car but it does not suit the needs of her current situation due to her having a modern car to accommodate her elderly mother. It was handed down to her son who drove it into the ground. From what she was telling me someone left an Allan wrench inside? She said that people had offered her low ball prices and she was going to give it to some teacher but she said if I wanted I can take it and that she had AAA and would tow it free too! I asked her if I could have a day to think about it. I go home do some research and research and found out that I should prob take it. Next day I text her and when I’m off work it’s waiting for me. I ran compression test and all cylinders were low and cylinder 5 was the worse. Fearing the worse cylinder wall scaring I began my hunt for a whole other motor. After a pretty long hunt I found an m20 with stand included $500 he had the g240 that I ended up buying under the impression it was a g260 for $300 that’s another story all together. After obtaining the m20 I had my mechanic pull the bad motor so I still have that to possible rebuild or sell. I also still have the g240. I ended up finding a legit g260 for $550. I got the pedals from the guy who sold me the engine. The dude who ended up selling me the g260 had sold me my clutch, flywheel and drive shaft for $300.
List of other things I’ve got for the e30
    Black grill from CA Tuned
Condor Speedshop Tall Shifter Knob W/M-tech boot.
Revshift Hard Transmission and motor mounts.
    New spark plugs Bosch
    Asusa gasket set
    Oil pan gasket-paper
    Slave Cylinder
    Master cylinder
    CA Tuned hose set
Master cylinder to brake reservoir hose and plastic piece
The (hard line)and the tool to bend it.
Condor braided hose (soft line) to slave cylinder.
I have rod bearings but never used them.
    New intake boot
    New intake box boot
    New belts.
The hose that runs from valve cover to intake area.
    Fluids.
Bought a cherry picker and tools.

This is her current state which is a disgrace and I feel like a bad owner. I need a car cover that tree really scares me. My mechanic should be free before the tree falls on my car and the whole project is a bust! Lol

Took some pics with the new boot in I really can’t wait till this is finished.
The m20 &g260 finally got them together for the most part I think I’m ready for the next phase.
This is a pile of the parts I’ve collected so far. No clue what I’m going to do with it.
If you look close its dented where she got hit also I should mention it’s a salvaged title they spend like 15Gs to get it to it’s current state I have all the bills. Click image for larger version

Time to invest in a Bentley manual, most of the stuff you can handle yourself if you have time and patience... and the Bentley... and search r3v and realoem haha

Keep it up and you'll be driving in no time. That dent doesnt look too bad either, might be able to have a PDR pulled out

+1 for realOEM for '87 325i(s)' because we are on M1.1 and M20b25 unlike '88 and up 325i which are on M1.3

oh and the electronic technical manual!

Awesome thanks a lot I was watching Blake’s garage and he has an 88. I just had never seen that part on any pedal assembly’s I’ve seen. I just want to make sure I have everything I’ve been super ocd about obtaining everything I need before we go back with everything.
