    Possibly a rebuild head for 89 325ix

    So after installing a supposedly rebuilt engine it turns out it has a blown head gasket or cracked head. Got oil in my coolant tank after running the car for 10min. Anyone had a rebuilt head laying around?

      Before you start buying parts, you should figure out what’s actually wrong.

          I'm 95% sure it's a cracked head. How else the oil and coolant mix?

            Cracked heads put coolant in the oil since the high pressure from the cooling system forces coolant into the cam valley, then mixes with oil. Do a coolant system flush with degreaser and run it again.

              Thanks for the tip. Do the flush after the new head is installed I'm assuming?

                I meant now so you can diagnose properly. If the head is indeed cracked then once the coolant is pressurized, you will see it bubbling from under the camshaft with the valve cover removed.
