Make sure your all your fluid levels are topped off ie. coolant, oil, etc
ask me how i know.

check your air pressure in your tires as well as your spare.
maybe a cell phone car charger.
have your car battery tested at an auto parts store ( that could ruin your trip in the middle of no where if that takes a shit)

liquids for the car and your self.
a calculator and odometer gears that are in working condition to keep track of what kind of fuel mileage your getting.
I like doing this on road trips because you can get good accurate highway only readings.

you know... replacing the fuel pump with the trunk kit is easy... but who can honestly say they can change the waterpump belt if it broke?
