Step 1. Remove Excrement... Mods, Can you help me move this to the project thread?
You have to slide the plastic piece towards the engine first (and have 2 white clips showing) and then back towards the trunk until it slides completely off

awesome to know for future reference. I'll be far gentler with my new ones in the future -
5spoke - good to see you chuck - I'm out in Oakton for at least another month. Send me a PM with your number and I'll hit you up sometime soon here. **edit - sees sig - SICK BIKE! when did you pick that up?
So Friday 4/29 -
After a quick trip to the other Advanced Auto location near my work to get more Interior paint (I had already bought out the entire stock in one store that week) - I finished up the carpet. I took out the rear deck and cleaned it up for paint the following morning. Also took off the Grills and the plastic trim pieces that surround the base of the windshield wipers.
Saturday 4/30-
gorgeous weather outside. Not too hot.
The grills started out like this... After a failed attempt at adding a 'rubberized undercoating' to them over a year ago... In retrospect I realize how STUPID that sounds - i.e. UNDERcoating = not paint, and NO UV protection.
realized Saturday - it is very likely the rubber caps with the wires (pigtails?) were stolen/lost during the whole debacle down in harrisonburg last year.
Still need to dremel my manifold fins some more to get the e32 booster to fit. Question to anyone using this booster - how is the brake feel? Is it going to be soft and spongy or nice and firm? Compared to stock?
on to progress -
I was feeling crafty - so after a trip to the home depot, I returned with supplies...
test fit /\
I got pulled into it and stopped taking pictures when I was still getting that tar shit on my hands. That stuff is hellacious - reminds me of Venom from Spiderman.
Basically I just made sure the area where I put the 3M adhesive strips was clean with rubbing alcohol and then ran a test fit, attached, and trimed/ cut holes for the handle/switch/screws/plastic clips.
I realize its not air tight like OEM, but the idea was to just get some sort of barrier there to a) cover that nasty black shit I
couldn't clean off and b) act as some sort of insulation
next task - tackle the firewall clearance issue with my steering rack - or lack there of.
Dremel + cutting wheel =
Then the carbide bit
My friend showed up right after this and helped me throw the carpet back in - neglected to take a picture....
however. Sunday, I worked while it rained (excuse the continued lack of shots, weather wasn't all that nice out)
For a hotrod - it'll work. And like Janderson said, I've got a can of the stuff in the car for whenever/whereever it fades.
As of now the driver seat is in, passengers seat is NOT.
Came home from work today and found some more goodies had arrived....
A new Center Support Bearing - Brembo blanks and PBR pads courtesy of BMA autoparts. Not sure where the fronts are yet though, haven't shown up. But shipping was crazy fast. Ordered late last week and they showed up today.
rock on.
:headbang:
Mods can I get a tow to the project thread? I think this is about to finally take a turn in that direction and stop being relevant to the interior thread... please and thank you?
Looking good steve! I actually just sold that bike and bought a 2008 yamaha fz6 raven. Its fits my abnormally long limbs much better.
Here is a pic. It is a lot faster too.

I regret not driving this car more when it was a 318i... I drove it for 2 weeks then pulled the m42. What a waste of good rubber.
took the dremel and sanded some of the rust off -
cleaned, masked off, holes filled with paper towels, old pads still on as a shield
You'll have to wait to see the finished product :)
something strange - my passenger door seal doesnt sit properly... It seems to be about 3/4 of an inch too small
and I noticed this before, so I had it arranged another way from messing with the carpet...
It leaked...
out came the shop vac for water removal, and I'm sad to say that the duplicolor fell short... maybe I didn't prep enough... I thought I had..
rub off on hand
post vacuuming disaster
Its easy enough to touch up I guess..
I'll drive this leaky small case 4.10 open until it explodes. Big plans for my suspension in the next 6 months...
The only spot of rust on the car - the rear valence
Cool updates dude. Yeah riding in NOVA can be pretty insane sometimes. You just have to pretend no one can see you ever. It makes you very cautious and extremely attentive of other drivers. In the end its worth it though, riding is amazing.
