318is build thread...slow, but steady NEW UPDATE!!!!!

    sup...
ive done a lot of things to my car...and things have happened to me but
still i manage to fix it more and more :D
its my 3rd e30...i was new to the m42 but by far
    its been my favorite e30...
bought it for 1100 bucks...the guy wanted 2200 for it...
it was in super bad shape...
and interior was filthy..blown shocks, no brakes, bald tires, steering fluid leak....engine oil leak...but came with some goodies, short shifter, hr sports oe...some parts in the trunk

    car had 196k on it...
now the engine has 163k and body has 205k...

    lets start
    before

    after

    installed e36 switches

then i fucked the engine....dropped a nut in there....stupid mistake.....that cost me an engine fucked the head and a piston

had the car parked for about a month a half trying to find an engine...
i almost swapped an m50 on it...but for some reason i really wanted an m42...
so bought an engine with 156k here on the forums and got it shipped from chicago to la
swapped it in good as new...
although i changed both engine mounts

    swapped engine...

engine started running like shit and was loosing power
    i found the issue...
oil in the spark plug holes

    then more troubles...

went through 2 brand new flex discs and then realize my driveshaft was fucked
got another one and good as new

then my radiator fell off yes the mounts broke

    started cleaning the inside

had an overheating problem and the gauge wasnt working
    replaced it and bam!

found a maplight mirror at the yards for 6 bucks :D
    but later sold it lol

started fixing my cluster since most stuff wasnt hooked or wasnt working

      with some fresh rebuilt axles

      seat replair

      after

      rewrapping my mtech wheel

also got a zhp knob from mat-b

got a cai from kaliboy :D

found a clean silver valance prepped it and painted it with a can
just straight out white paint its not that far off on color

got some euro grills, ellips, and a new is lip for 50 bucks :D

then i ditched the stock basketweaves
      for some trms

      all the suspension is new
new bilstein front shocks, new control arms, adjustable swaybar links,
      strut mounts,

this is almost ready to go in
just need some extra parts :D
got this minty clutch super cheap with the flywheel for free basically...
its resurfaced..clutch had atleast 1k from what the guy told me..i do believe its still new

Valves look not to bad, considering the car may was not treated well over the years.

Great progress with the car so far. I remember when it was on Craigslist!

yes i remember the guy had it on sale for about 2 months there...until he finally accepted my offer of 1500 nut uppon inspection it wasnt worth more than 1k in my opinion....

i had tons of pictures of the engine being swapped, shocks, control arms, swaybar links, vlsd, bushings, but my pictures got erased on my phone..
            but
also the paint was yellow, took 4 hours to get it back to white and being shiny...

so far in receipts i have spent 3k in parts alone

Yeah, it was up there a while. I think I offered him 1k for it but he wasn't interested.

At least you're bringing it back up to snuff. The 318iS is getting harder and harder to find.

Wow it has come a long way, I've always been wary of damaged/salvaged cars because of frame damage. Looks as if it was never hit!

back to square one, i was involve in an accident...100% my fault, my car got totalled...euro grills, mint, valance, ellips, bumper, fender, hood, radiator, engine fan and clutch are toast!

and then my car was hit on the left rear panel and had barely got it back from the body shop and then next day bam i crashed

the day i got it fixed

                        and then the day after
