    I just realized I didn't fully answer your question.
    The M42 and 24V plates are the same except the drain plug access hole. So if you plan on doing a 24V swap soon I would buy the 24V skid plate. In the meantime you'll just have to remove the skid plate to change your oil.

            Just another data point. I have s plate on my very low m50 swapped track car. It has made several aggressive departures from the racing surface resulting in only scratches on the plate. It has worked very nicely, highly recommend!
