Did you get it installed yet? I'm curious to how much material gets rubbed off during the installation.
Thanks for documenting your process and material selection in your build thread.
I've been meaning to find a cracked dash and introduce this technique, as my current dash is uncracked (for now) and I couldn't waste a good one for experimentation.

put it back in today. Basically once it's dried for a day, you can just blow any loose material off (with compressed air, or just air from your mouth). It's really light stuff.
When installing it I didn't notice any coming off on my hands or anything (though I'm sure some did). I really had to manhandle the dash to get it back in, and none of the areas I handled had any patches rub off or anything. I also vacuumed it with a shop vac lightly with the regular nozzle and didn't notice it taking any off.
Really the only place on the dash that I'm not happy with is the forward edge of the "tray" on the passenger side. I didn't notice it before, but I clearly put the adhesive on too thick and a bit of it ran, so there are some subtle "bumps" in that area. The adhesive is really thick stuff, so I must have just gotten alot there and not smoothed it out well with my brush. You can kind of see it in the pic below, though it's nothing terrible.
Couple quick pics. Next week I'll take some in sunlight.

Look under "products" - it's the "mini-flocker kit"
btw, anyone who does this - you want the NYLON fibers (which are weatherproof), rather than the Rayon ones (which are for jewerlery boxes and other stuff that isn't going to see much use, or the sun)Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

Not bad. That would go well with say...a suede/alcantara interior. Not to mention it saved you the cost of having to get another dash."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

That flock looks AMAZING, well done! I've been kicking around the idea of doing this for YEARS, I've always thought it was a great idea. My dash cracked right after I bought my E30, and we swapped in a perfect one from a 318is. Now it has 2 little cracks in the storage area up top, and this is a perfect solution!
Love the rear seat delete/cargo area, too! I built the exact same thing last year, I'm planning on revamping it a little bit here pretty soon, it looks identical to yours!
This is very impressive, glad to see someone finally did it, now I REALLY want to do mine.

Thanks, kind of happy that I had a crappy dash because I've always wanted an excuse to try this, lol.
Here's a couple close-up pics in case anyone wants to get a feel for the length/texture a bit closer up.

The flocking doesn't fill anything but minor imperfections - so if you don't fill the cracks fairly smooth, you will still be able to see it a little bit. I can still see where a few of my repairs were if I look real close. But I did a half-assed job filling them, lol
I had some major cracks, this is after I cut the edges to a bevel:

That looks great in car! I'm really thinking about doing this to my dash as I've got about 6 decent length cracks, nothing too deep though thankfully. My only problem is that my car is 100% a street car IE: no track time, and I always considered a flocked dash kind of "motorsporty" so I don't want it to come across ricey I guess. I'm leaning towards flocking it anyway though!
