You can ask whatever you want for your engine, but now that you ask I think it's probably ~$3k off. The people that can afford to pay $30k for average E30 M3's aren't really grease monkeys looking to swap engines into anything. Maybe someone with a roller might bite, but then again the type of guy that cheaped out buying a roller trying to hack together an e30 M3 isn't going to pay $8k for an S14 specially in unknown, unrebuilt condition. They will dream and hold out for a $3k mechanic special on CL or Egay. The fact that the cars have picked up price fast doesn't mean parts (Except Evo parts) will climb in price at the same rate. At least not for a while until the market reaches it's next plateau. Been closely watching the market on E30 M3 cars and parts for the past 8 yrs on S14.net, S14power, here, BF, shows, you name it but I'm no expert and by no means trying to put you or your engine down. If you want to get $8k have Levent take it out and have him replace bearings, all seals and gaskets, chain guides, valve seals, and maybe rings. He then can repaint the cover black and put it in a nice stand so that prospective buyers can jump on it.

8k is a lil pushing it for me. At that price there are a few others engines that can be swaped into e30 like s38 or s62. If it was a 2.5 then maybe. Around 5k would be more realistic.

I just sold a 90k mile s14 and tranny with all accessories for 7k . I dont think youre that far off. They arent making any more. If someone wants a solid motor they will pay it. Of course you have to find the right guy. Personally Id stick it in the corner and sit on it if you can afford it. I needed the money for another project or i would have kept mine
