    Lowest Possible Seat

I probably just suck at searching, but I can't find anything about a driver's seat that's as low as possible. I've been dailying my e30 about 60 miles a day, 2 hours total in traffic, and the lack of headroom (I'm 6'5") with sunroof is doing a number on my lower back since I'm slouching the entire time. I'm totally open to replacing the seat with something else (maybe a Recaro Specialist or something) but I need it as low as possible. I want to retain a fold-forward seat back, so a fixed back bolted to the floor, while fulfilling my needs, won't do.

What's out there for mounting solutions that gets the seat as low as possible? If there isn't anything off the shelf, anyone happen to know of a shop in SoCal I could have something fabbed at?

The stock seats can't really be lowered at all since the sliders are pretty tall.

      Here's some more info: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=106281

i didn't read your whole post but I have heard honda s2000 seats sit pretty low in an e30. Of course that depends on how you mount them. I have also heard they are really comforable, just not necessarily a great match looks wise for the e30

The issue is that most fold back seats are bottom mount.
I had a Bride folder in my car for a while. I bought some "L" brackets that bolted direct to floor. The E30 is nice cause the floor is flat. I then bought another set of "L" brackets to bolt to the bottom of the folder seat. Thus making it a side mount seat. I was able to physically put the seat on the floor of the car. The onlt thing that could slide under the seat was paper...
These are the brackets I ussed. Looks like they have doubled in price. http://www.more-japan.com/nagisa-auto-seat-accessories/

I really want to keep a reclining back seat, are there reclining seats that work with side mounts? I guess I'm really trying to find the lowest brackets.

MaxBell, I paged through that thread, looks like most people are running fixed backs. If I were to go with Recaro SRD's or Specialists, what would get them the lowest, or do I have to go custom?

from my experiences: i have sport seats in my 86 and in my 84. the 84 seats actually sat lower as the seat brackets did not stand as tall as the ones in the 86. im running the 84 sport seats

that is, for using stock sport seats

Excellent info! I'd need both these sets to pull this off? Guess I'd be the only one that could drive my car after this huh? Oh, darn...

Any idea how much lower? I need an inch because I'd like to be able to drive with a helmet on for Auto-x.

Convertible seats can be adjusted to be the lowest.
I'm 6'1 and lowest setting I have plenty of space for a helmet.

Thats the way I saw it. I will see if I have pics somewhere...... I dont think I do anymore. I run a fixed back sea now. But yes you would need two brackets. One for the bottom of the seat and one to go to floor and bolt them together.
