So I got the tire I need to fit them to the car..FedEx came on Saturday.

I'll order a cheap Diamond for fitment purposes.....

I think I'll make room for 18's when I do this. In case I decide to go that route.

Sounds good. What do you mean in case you go that route? You've already purchased the 275's haven't you??

I've decided to go for the 275's as well but I'm going cheap and buying the Diamond wheels.
275's with Diamond wheels (15x10" spun casing) =$1468.00
        275's with 949 wheels (15x9) =$1808.00

I'm willing to sacrifice some weight for a wider wheel. and less cost as well.

What do you mean by no major surgery? Those fenders are rolled, pulled and cut.

(I cropped and rehosted these 2 pics)

Hmm... well its not a pretty flare job by any means, and at full bump travel it looks like it will rub a lot...I wouldn't even say those fit well enough for racing. Looks like they are already rubbing in the back and the front flare section is mangled pretty hard. Good looking wheels, though!

Not knocking the owner of that car, he's out there racing on some big meats - to an extent - but if you want to stuff that a 275mm tire under an E30 you'll need to cut, weld, hammer, fabricate and flare to clear under significant bump travel and/or at full steering wheel lock. You can sometimes "cheat" on some wider tires by pulling, hammering, and mauling the sheet metal, but that's more tire than an E30 can take without flares... maybe you could cheat a 255 on an E30 with a big enough hammer... but in my humble opinion the 275s are too much to squeeze under an E30 without real flares.

Having cut tire or two trying to do the same tricks on BMWs, I say this with some experience... :( And remember that one man's definition of what "fits" is another man's definition of "its rubbing like crazy!". I've seen many cars that people claim can fit this or that big tire and then having seen them run with smoke pouring out from the wheelwells after an autocross run. To them "it fits" but to me "it doesn't". Your definition may vary...

Fronts suck, no matter what you get inner fender rub. Legally you just have to wait until the tire/wheels helps clearance the inside a bit from constant rubbing (ah...not a 5# sledge, yeah).
