Gents,
So I am replacing my HG on my newly acquired '85 325e and I make the engine at TDC before trying to remove the crankshaft pulley and associated bolts, belts, etc...
Anyhow, I look at the mark on crankshaft and it's on the TDC spot and then I look at the Cam sprocket to find that it looks like it is one spot off (1/6 in max).
The car, when it ran, idled fine but it wasn't a street racer...I know it directly affects timing, performance and whatnot but I wonder how much it would affect the operation of this car (starting, acceleration, etc...)
Question: can I remove the timing belt and rotate the cam sprocket (1/6in) so the marks line and then put everything back together again without muckin' up something?
thanks
~Benny
