      :drink:
I also made that a goal for my car, highly doubtful that will happen though.

Random thread bump...but did you ever figure out what pieces were required for stuffing a G245 close-ratio (dogleg) trans in this car, with an M20 in front of it? I have come across my own G245 CR box, but cannot find any definitive information as far as driveline, transmission suspension and shifting components go...don't want to buy it and not be able to install it in the car.

I have a M50 with a G245/11 in it in my other e30 right now. Was able to make it work with:
          - m20 flywheel + clutch kit
          - 323i throwout bearing
          - regular e30 driveshaft
          - custom shortened linkage and platform
          - shortened transmission mount

Great! So as far as a transmission mount for an M20 powered car, what would be the best way of going about that? Do you know if the dimensions are the same as a G265, in regards to using the E30 M3 aluminum shift carrier adapter bracket?

(i prefer the aluminum shift carrier, but if I have to run the stamped steel unit, whatever)

no, the length is not the same as a 265 one

I think I cut about an inch out of an alloy shift console, but don't remember if it was an e34 or e30 one. grabbed it out of my parts bin and measured on the car with the trans in place.

                        318 years :(

truth be told, I've lost steam on this because cleaning and painting engine bays sucks a lot. I've also increasingly started to dislike the tech 1 kit and want to pull it off.

Whats the hold up been that slowed everything down? Painting the engine bay??

You do have a lot on your plate, but its all your fault!... I dont blame you though, I wish I could take it off your hands... I love early models, but I have zero justification for getting a second E30

does yours rust everywhere too? every little scratch in my engine bay rusts. I wish the body was galvanized.
